Trademarks and Licensing

LMU's trademark licensing program protects the university's brand and reputation by careful stewardship of the university name and official marks, ensuring that we present a positive and consistent image to the world.

LMU’s visual identity system marks are trademarked with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and may not be altered, distributed nor licensed without permission from LMU Marketing and Communications. The formal licensing program, administered by Learfield Licensing Partners, maintains quality and consistency of the LMU brand across all applications on merchandise, apparel and swag. To accomplish this, LMU requires that all products bearing university trademarks are manufactured by a licensed vendor. Our trademarks include logos, symbols and words that represent LMU.

Benefits of Licensing

Using licensed vendors to order and purchase products helps LMU protect our brand and reputation in a few ways.

  • All orders are checked by Learfield and LMU for quality and brand compliance.
  • Licensed vendors comply with LMU's ethical commitment to fair labor standards through our affiliation with the Worker Rights Consortium.
  • Licensed merchandise earns royalties for LMU.
